About My Clients
We all want to love, be loved, do something meaningful, and have purpose in our lives, yet all too often prior relationships and life experiences have left us with coping skills that are unhealthy, ineffective or just downright baffling. As therapists, we are experienced in working with adults who have a history of childhood emotional abuse and/or neglect. Those we work with often find that they have difficult relationships, struggle to relax, and wish they were more in control of their lives.
My Background and Approach
Spotted Rabbit's philosophy is built on long-term relief of your suffering. Through the processing of past experiences we help clients make sense of their current behaviors, thoughts, and emotions, enabling them to be more effective in their relationships with others and feel more in control of their lives. Unfortunately, we cannot make the difficult emotions go away, but by using art therapy approaches and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) we can develop effective strategies to lessen the intensity and frequency of these experiences while increasing satisfaction in other areas of your life. We are committed to a values-based approach and believe strongly that developing meaning and purpose in your life is a necessity for overall well-being. Many of our therapists are LGBTQ+ and we all utilize neurodivergent affirming practices.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As Spotted Rabbit's director, I have a special interest in social conformity and its impact on individual mental and physical health. Community is necessary for connection, yet strict societal expectations often lead to suffering. I am invested in challenging the status quo and developing resources to give others a stronger voice. As such, Spotted Rabbit is dedicated to creating a safe and affirming environment with a focus on hiring therapists with diverse voices and experiences, particularly within the LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent communities. Our practice also gives back to the community by facilitating a free support group for young adults who identify as LGBTQ and offering reduced cost sessions with graduate level interns.
