About My Clients
I typically work with individuals and couples. I specialize in working with trauma, LGBTQ, religious trauma, existential crises, underrepresented populations, relationship and societal issues. I have been told that I am easy to be in session with, and can stay curious and identify with most anyone I meet. I work best with adult clients, those with deep inquiries of self, and typically anyone who has feelings of being misunderstood or alienated. I do very well at helping couples reconnect.
My Background and Approach
My background is in Depth Psychology and Somatic mindfulness practices. In my study of depth psychology I learned to understand the human experience both in the conscious and subconscious realms. Sometimes it can be very useful to help root the reality of your life as a journey that you are on. Observations of your truest self can be clarified and illuminated by way of metaphor, stories, myths, imagery, imagination, music, and art. All of these abstract and creative outlets can be practically and logically applied in therapy, so do not be intimidated left-brainers. Somatic mindfulness deals with thousands of year old breathing practices and modern scientific neurological research. Being grounded in one's body, and developing awareness can help one overcome, complex trauma, anxiety, depression, OCD, ADD/ADHD, and panic attacks. The basis of somatic mindfulness practice is helpful in anyone's life as shown by scientific research.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My undergraduate study was in philosophy and rhetoric at UC Berkeley under Judith Butler, one of the front runners of feminist and queer theory. I have extensively studied theology, literature, neuroscience, myth/folklore, poetry, and art. As someone who has overcome both trauma and religious trauma I have a foundational experience was what these issues feel like. I am an ally of the LGBTQ and BIPOC community. I work extensively in political, socioeconomic, and societal issues that affect all of us on a very deep level. I have done extensive work with trauma survivors, the LGBTQ community, and BIPOC peoples with great success. I wrote my thesis on complex trauma which I researched rigorously for several years. I believe in the power of community, ritual, storytelling and ceremony in the healing process. I have a strong meditation practice and have guided meditations for hundreds of individuals, and in support of the cause for Black Lives Matter.
