About My Clients
Emotional wounds are just that - wounds. Sometimes they are only on the surface, but often times they indicate something much more deeply rooted. Maybe you are experiencing something new, or maybe you are stuck in a pattern of self-sabotage, anger, sadness, loneliness, even hopelessness. Perhaps you are tired of friendships or relationships being broken, or feeling one way. Or maybe you are tired of not living to your fullest potential. In any case, I want to work with you.
My Background and Approach
My primary motive as a therapist is to help my clients live more meaningful and productive lives, in harmony with their families and their communities. I want to help as many individuals as possible to become more courageous, more truthful (to others and to themselves) and more engaged in the pursuit of individual, familial, and social harmony. Using a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness, and several other modalities, our work will involve uncovering, understanding, and healing your emotional, mental, and spiritual wounds, and from there to build or rebuild a more satisfying life.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
It is common to hear "I am not ok, and that's ok." I disagree. I think you are seeking out therapy because something is wrong and that fact is bothering you. Something is wrong, and you know that you can do better, that 'it' can be corrected. Whether your problem(s) are emotional or behavioral, I believe that they have probably been with you for a long time, and that is because at some point they served you well. But like those pants you bought in 2013, these patterns or ideas no longer fit you. Working with me, we will change that. I believe change happens when a person takes an honest look at themselves, accepts responsibility for themselves, and resolves to do the necessary work to move closer to their goals. I do not believe that change happens by chance - at least, not change for the better. Therapy will provide you with a map, but you have to choose to seek out the treasure.
