Accepting Clients

I'm a geeky, nerdy, dorky guy that makes dad jokes until its time to get to work, then it's "maximum effort."

Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in Winston-Salem, NC

About My Clients

My clients tend to be experiencing a wide range of trauma and attachment wounds. Like people who feel like they are always having to work extra hard and still can't have their efforts reciprocated by others at work or in relationships, or even those who have always felt fine on their own and are starting to experience anxiety or intrusiveness from others. Or they might feel like good things are just bad things in disguise, waiting to happen, and struggle to make sense of the world consistenly.

My Background and Approach

I'm fully licensed in NC, can provide telehealth in SC, and work as a supervisor for other therapists as well. My specialties lie in attachment/interpersonal neurobiology (the hard science of how people code others and circumstances as safe, possibly unavailable, threatening, or a chaotic mix of the two), structural dynamics (boundaries at a systemic level that help people choose "rules" more thoughtfully and intentionally to distribute effort and benefit more equitably), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), where I facilitate clients recoding how their brains interpret past memories and ongoing experiences more adaptively and confidently. It works so well that the joke has been made that it's basically witchcraft, but I promise I'll explain how it works in a very concrete, down to earth way.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Ultimately, my personal belief is that it is my job to foster safety in relationships. This starts with my relationship with clients in the office when it comes to my work. Part of this is by providing excellent, affirming work at a reasonable price. Another part is by striving to maintain an excellent stabilization and graduation rate with clients, helping them feel that they no longer need my care and can live more adaptively and autonomously. Because of this, a large part of my focus with clients isn't just on healing, but on building lifestyle systems that support and maintain that growth and recovery for as long as possible.
