About My Clients
"I often hear parents say, 'I just want my child to be their normal self again.' It can be incredibly challenging to know how to handle changes like anger, acting out, sadness, or withdrawal. These issues not only impact the child but also everyone involved in their daily lives. I tailor therapy to meet the specific needs of you and your child, working together to get 'back to normal'—or even improve upon what normal has been."
My Background and Approach
I have been a counselor working with children and teens for 25 years and have a deep appreciation for the power of play therapy. Play therapy is versatile and can be effectively integrated with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to address a wide range of presenting concerns. My approach is laid-back and flexible, tailoring each session to the individual’s specific needs, personality, energy, and temperament. While a one-size-fits-all approach might seem convenient, it's not practical or effective. I keep parents and guardians informed throughout the process and am available to answer questions or coordinate with other professionals as needed. Common issues I help kids and teens with include symptoms of anxiety, depression, trauma, and adjusting to life transitions, such as changes in the household due to divorce, the addition of new family members, or the loss of a loved one. Major life changes, like moving or changing schools, can also be stressful and can help navigate these changes
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in the greater good. We all deserve the same opportunity to grow and thrive. Mental health is just as important as physical health. We should have equal rights and opportunities regardless of race, SES, gender or who we love.
