About My Clients
I work with folks experiencing anxiety, perfectionism, and people-pleasing tendencies. My style can be adapted to work with just about anyone, but I work mainly with millennial aged women, often in high performance careers, and often married with children. My clients need space to express their feelings after years of putting others before themselves. Sometimes, the tendency to under-prioritize the self comes from a background of childhood neglect, high expectations, and/or verbal abuse.
My Background and Approach
I have experience working in a number of different settings including a domestic violence shelter, a child advocacy center, and a group practice. The uniqueness of each of these settings allowed me the privilege and pleasure of working with a wide swath of different folks, experiencing a broad range of issues. I believe that because of this experience, and because of my demeanor and personality, I am able to connect with almost anyone who makes their way into a therapy session with me. My approach is person-centered, non-judgmental, trauma-focused, and affirming. I can be soft and validating when needed, but I can also be direct and challenging when appropriate. I have a very active sense of humor that I love to incorporate in session. I delight in my clients, and love to see them work hard, grow, change, and succeed.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am affirming of all identities and approach all my clients with curiosity and compassion. In the past, I worked on the crisis hotline at an agency that provides assistance around domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, and human trafficking. I volunteer monthly with an organization that distributes donated items to folks experiencing homelessness, called "Atheists Helping the Homeless".
