About My Clients
Are you feeling stuck in your personal life or in your relationship? Have unhealthy patterns caused you pain and insecurity? If the answer is yes to either of these questions, I can help. I help clients move from shame and insecurity towards authenticity and a life that feels fulfilling.
My Background and Approach
The therapy I provide is evidence-based and informed by neuroscience, narrative therapy, and feminist psychology. Neuroscience is the study of the brain, and using this in therapy helps clients understand how they act and react in relationships. This can normalize clients’ experiences and help them move away from certain maladaptive behaviors. Narrative therapy is the idea of helping clients be the authors of their own stories, rather than internalizing stories they have come to believe from their peers and their society. And feminist psychology is a way of understanding individuals and relationships by how they have been informed by socially constructed concepts of gender and power differences.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Several years ago, my partner and I decided to attend couples counseling, which was a transformative experience. It felt, for the first time, like I was looking at my life and my relationships with others with eyes wide open. I realized that trauma and shame from my past had led to self-esteem issues and insecurities about acceptance by others. Looking at my life with compassion and curiosity instead of judgment and shame was a healing experience. Therapy has been a life changing journey for me. It led me to discover the importance of authenticity, vulnerability, and true connection with others. It also gave me the confidence to realize that I can be successful as a therapist and facilitate others’ journeys of personal growth. I am honored to work with my clients and hear their stories
