About My Clients
Are you a someone who has a lot of strengths but keeps hitting a wall? Many of those I work with have difficulty recognizing and articulating their emotions, which can lead to difficulty making decisions, asserting their needs, or setting healthy boundaries. They may feel disconnected from themselves and others, as if they are not fully present, leading to problems in their relationships and even with themselves. Does any of this sound familiar?
My Background and Approach
My goal is to help individuals and couples find ways to live life more fully, communicate more effectively, and feel better about themselves and their relationships. My therapeutic approach is thoughtful, proactive, and non-judgmental. What does therapy with me look like? The therapy process is highly individual. What works for one person might not work for another. I draw from a range of therapeutic modalities to ensure that the approach is best suited to your needs. Methods I use include traditional talk therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), somatic techniques, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), and mindfulness approaches. My practice is informed by the latest research in neuroscience, trauma, the mind-body connection, and the therapeutic use of psychedelics. My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Therapy has been an invaluable asset to me throughout my life, and after more than a decade in a field that didn't align with my core values, I was inspired to pursue a career in mental health. I strive for cultural competence and am LGBTQ+ affirming. I am sex-positive and have experience working with, and am supportive of, people in traditional and alternative relationships, including polyamorous and open relationships. When I am not enjoying my professional role as a therapist I like to kayak, camp, travel, draw, bake sourdough bread and play games of all kinds with my husband, family, and friends. To stay grounded I am committed to regular meditation, breathwork, and my own work with another therapist. Visit my full website: bakertherapy.com for more information about me and my practice.
