About My Clients
I have a special interest in serving survivors and victims of sexual traumas and abuse. In a culture where victim blaming runs rampant, when we talk and process our experiences the light is able to shine in and we as a society move closer to a world where survivors do not need to live in shame. I am also a trained Doula and love to work with the perinatal and postpartum community. I am especially interested in exploring traumatic birth stories and supporting this healing journey.
My Background and Approach
When I work with clients I show up as myself first, and therapist second. Therapy is extremely personal, and at times uncomfortable! I make sure my clients feel comfortable and safe, by incorporating humor and my personality when it is appropriate. Healing journey’s can sometimes feel very isolating. It is my hope we can walk hand in hand as you create the life you have always wanted for yourself. I believe many of these hardships would seem more liveable if we each had someone to turn to in times of need. I feel inspired by my own life experiences, as well the clients I first worked with at a local crisis hotline, while an undergraduate student. While I expected this line to serve only those in crisis who were experiencing suicidal thoughts, I was shocked by the amount of callers who were simply searching for human connection as they experienced hardships of life. I have seen that sometimes we feel empowered and find strength in just speaking our truths to someone else.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community and love to work with queer and transgender people. In the past I have worked for various Women’s Centers and organizations like Planned Parenthood to help people make the best, informed decision for themselves. I also began my counseling career as a crisis hotline operator, so crisis situations and client's struggling with suicidal ideation is an area I feel confident and love to assist in.
