Below are just some common concerns beyond my specialty areas that I work with: Identity Depression Adjustment Relationship Concerns Healthy Boundaries Self-esteem and Confidence Academic Concerns Anxiety Sleep Grief/Loss
My Background and Approach
I obtained my doctorate in clinical psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and I trained for 6 years in various settings working with mostly adults. I am trained as a generalist meaning that I have worked with a wide range of mental health concerns and am continuing to provide services for nearly any difficulty you may be experiencing. I also have extensive specialized training in trauma, working with LGBTQIA+ clients. college student mental health and couples/relationship counseling. Clients have described me as "being real but empathic." I am definitely not the "smile and nod" therapist. I believe that being our authentic selves is integral to healing and if I can't be real with you, how can I expect you to be the same with me. In more technical terms, I'm an integrative therapist but draw heavily from relational cultural therapy and an interpersonal framework. See my website since it tells you so much more!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that healing and feeling happy as our best selves often comes back to relationships in our lives with the people around us and more importantly, living life as our authentic selves. I am a major supporter of social justice issues from LGBTQIA+ rights, women empowerment, and up through every race equity, justice, rights and validation from the world. My strong commitment to diversity is integral to my work in therapy and really me and my life as a person living in a world where oppression is a huge issue facing all of us. I also believe that particularly with trauma, we all deserve to be empowered, validated, loved, and more that every human deserves. From my work with people, I feel like my faith in change, particularly around healing trauma and also diversity is constantly renewed and strengthened. I know that I can help you explore these areas among other difficulties through a collaborative therapist/client relationship. You deserve happiness, meaning, and fulfillment.
